 View of the Lincoln Memorial, the Reflecting Pool (site where most people stood to hear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's famous "I have a dream speech") the pool has been drained and is 6months into a 2 year restoration project. Did anyone else believe that the Monument sinks a little every year because it was built on swamp land? Apparently this is not true, but now I'm hearing the Jefferson Memorial is the one sinking! I can't keep up!

What to Wear to...The White House

As you know, I grew up in DC; I'm a fourth generation native Washingtonian, so I don't know how I survived this long without visiting the White House.

Since I moved back to DC last summer I've been 3 times! Today, was by far my best experience to date.

Better than the time an old friend from my flight attendant days happened to be in town and we toured the White House gardens. Better than the time I took a tour inside the White House and the newly elected Mayor of DC (Vincent Gray) was on the tour with me!

Today was amazing, because it was a gorgeous day, I found just the right outfit, and the President of the United States of America walked right up to me...at which time I promptly dropped my camera and just starred. Don't worry I eventually pulled it together and took a few photos.

Ladies That Brunch

I had a great weekend, that ended with an all day brunch session on Sunday with the newly formed "Brunching-N-Lunching" Ladies that Brunch club.

We ate at The Beacon, played scandalous board games and even recieved swag bags from our hostess.

Afterwards we hit up the new Pinkberry in Dupont Circle...if you haven't tried the new Salted Caramel flavor...get over there now! Its so yummy and perfect after a savory meal and drinks.

Finally we ended up at Lauriol Plaza for more drinks, chips&salsa and some fun with the other patrons...too bad no one took video of the entire Lauriol rooftop singing along to Katy Perry with us! I'm excited for the next "Brunching-N-Lunching" event which will be hosted by myself and my friend Latia and has a rock and roll karaoke theme!

How Was Your Day? (Memorial Day)

HOW WAS YOUR DAY 

(Weekend Edition)

It took me 3 times to get it lit, then I burned all of the chicken.

My cousin came over a few hours later and brought me Maryland Crabs covered in Old Bay seasoning...THAT'S WHAT FAMILY IS FOR!

The  light was on upstairs in the White House and tourists at the party kept asking us if that was the President's bedroom. General rule of thumb: if you can see into it, the President is NOT inside. 

Directly next to the party was the Treasury building and at midnight we watched a soldier come up on to the Treasury's roof and lower the U.S. flag to half-mast in honor of Memorial Day...couldn't have asked for a more appropriate end to the holiday!
