EVENT: BEAUTY THAT STARTS DEEPER (CONCERT SERIES)
VENUE: Shadow Room, 2131 K St, NW (Washington, DC)
HOST: Elle Varner, signer/songwriter
SPONSOR: Clear Hair Care

Oh What A Night~ Thanks to a tip from the BLM Girls I had an amazing night out celebrating the natural, healthy hair and positive, impactful lyrics of singer/songwriter Elle Varner. "ROOTED IN STRENGTH: A toast to your inner beauty!" was held at Shadow Room a Vegas inspired nightclub located in the "lobbyist district" of the city on K Street; the venue and event organizers chose a select group of fashion and beauty bloggers to cover the event instead of traditional press.

We were ushered through an underground tunnel to a super secret location within the club (there was even a special elevator involved) and then in we walked to Elle Varner's dressing room. I've never seen a celebrity's tour rider (the food and drinks they request in their dressing rooms) up close, but it was super interesting...seems Varner is a natural girl on the inside and out; she had tons of Fiji water, organic juice, honey and mixed nuts!

Varner chatted with us about her beauty routine (before Clear she only used Shea butter on her hair), what inspires her music and what she splurges on...SHOES! She was thoughtful, sweet and so down to earth. And then she went on stage and blew us ALL AWAY! She performed with an amazing human beat box accompanying her and she KILLED IT!

Thank you so much to Clear Hair Care, Shadow Room, BLM Girls and especially Elle Varner for asking me to cover this event...OH WHAT A NIGHT it was!

  1. How I missed an opportunity to be led under a secret tunnel to Elle Varner's dressing room...

But even though I was late as hell, still glad I got to see you there! We need to have a dance night out.

  4. Such a fun night! Glad I got to see you there. I'm still a lil salty that I didn't know about the Meet & Greet w/ Elle though. At least I did get my stage access wristband. Good times!
