Trunk Show Date & TimeFriday, June 26
11 AM – 5 PM Saturday, June 27
11 AM – 3 PM As Washington, DC welcomes the summer sun, Goodwill of Greater Washington will be celebrating the warm weather with a major trunk show at Pepco Edison Place Gallery in Chinatown (702 8th St NW, Washington, DC, 20068). The trunk show will be filled with the finest Goodwill summer apparel and a collection of seasonal accessories. All merchandise being sold was hand-selected from our Washington, DC area stores. To remain true to the mission of the Pepco Edison Place Gallery, the space will also feature historical images commemorating Goodwill’s 80th anniversary in our nation’s capital. I'll be there to celebrate 80 years of transforming lives and communities, and pick up some hot summer fashions! See you Friday!

80 years of Goodwill Greater Washington

WHAT I WORE: tip to toe!sweater dress | dress | bag | shoes I love vintage clothes, but I always believed  I had to go to an expensive, well curated vintage shop to find ones that would fit into my professional life. Being involved with Goodwill Greater Washington has changed my perspective. I've never been a thrifter, in fact the idea of sorting throw a thrift store seemed overwhelming to me, but then I learned that not all thrift stores are created equal.
Goodwill's focus has been on creating employment opportunities for disenfranchised community members through the donations of more fortunate community members. At at lovely breakfast at the Newseum to celebrate 80 years since Goodwill of Greater Washington was founded, the organization asked me why I support them…my answer? My #ootd supports jobs!  I like knowing that when I donate last seasons clothes or purchase something from one of their stores, not only am I getting a unique piece (like the awesome purple Talbots sweate…

Bethesda Front Row

WHAT I WORE: tip to toe! dress | sandals | backpack | jacketHit up Bethesda Row's "Front Row" fashion show with some lovely ladies I've met through blogging, PR professional Yvonne(center) and Digital professional (and baker) Oby(right). It was a lovely way to spend a Friday night.
The hosts of the fashion show were the sisters behind Georgetown Cupcake, which has an outpost in Bethesda right off The Row. The show included pieces from the stores that line the row including Lilly Pulitzer signature shop Pink Palm and even Equinox provided some "athleisure" (styling your workout clothes for going out) looks for the runway.
Check out what was in our "Front Row" goodie bags in this Youtube video Oby made!
(BONUS: Check out the last time Oby & I were on Bethesda Row including a cameo from an author who is now staring in her own TV show!)

If you've been a longtime WHAT I WORE: tip to toe! reader you know one of the events I attend each year is the Gilt City Warehouse sale. See you there!
Date:Friday, June 12th and Saturday, June 13th Location: Dock5 at Union Market (1309 5th Street NE) Tickets are on sale now at: ($10-20)

Poolside with Lulu DK Tattoos + Giveaway!

WHAT I WORE: tip to toe!Wonderland Jewelry TattooLuLu DK

Remember that pool party I went to for the launch of Mars Vida's Summer 2015 swimwear line? Well my friends and I accessorized our swimsuits with jewelry inspired tattoos from LuLu DK. Designed by artist Lulu deKwiatkowski, who started a textile line while living in Paris, LuLu DK tattoos are changing the scope of temporary tattoos. Many of the designs have been inspired by actual jewelry pieces and are meant to be worn just as you would layered necklaces or stacked bracelets.
Since my J.Crew bathing suit has such a low back I wore my Wonderland jewelry tattoo between my shoulder blades and it got lots of attention. To win your own sheet of Lulu DK jewelry tattoos leave a comment below and tell me why you're excited about summer!

Giveaway Rules: This contest is open to U.S. residents only. Winner will be announced Saturday June 13th on the WHAT I WORE: tip to toe! Facebook page (

Mars Vida Swimwear

WHAT I WORE: tip to toe!swimsuit | jeans | shoes | hat

Maria-Alejandra Avellaneda started out as a fashion blogger, just like me. In 2014 she launched Mars Vida, an online swimwear company based in the D.C. area. Born in Peru, Avellaneda's swimsuits are inspired by the "high quality textiles and bright colors" of the Peruvian bathing suits she grew up wearing.
Her line's debut event and this season's press preview both sold out and were spectacular! To celebrate the Summer 2015 collection Avellaneda gathered bloggers and other media around the newly renovated Embassy Row Hotel pool for an early morning party that included inflatable swans and branded beach balls! Attendees were welcome to try on pieces from the line and got a last chance at pieces from last season. My favorite piece was the neon strap bikini top in army green just $45. Check out the entire Summer 2015 line at

The New BR

dress | jacket | sandals
I recently fell back in love with an old favorite...Banana Republic. I haven't shopped at Banana Republic for almost a decade. When I lived in San Francisco it was nice to go into the flagship store on Grant Avenue because the building was huge and had some beautiful architecture. That location also seemed to carry a line of Banana Republic intimates I never saw any wear else. I still have some of the camisoles I purchased way back then and I know they had the best selection of men's boxer shorts.
Banana Republic's recent makeover is the work of Marissa Webb, who is a designer in her own right. The brand is hoping she'll do for BR what Jenna Lyons has done for J.Crew. They want to lure back old customers who outgrew the brand and attract new customers who never thought BR was their style. In true Gap Inc. fashion the store is usually on sale. I scored both this dress and jacket for at least 30% off.
Most surprising has been how well made the new c…

Breakfast In Bed with Casper

WHAT I WORE: tip to toe!
I'm in the market for a new mattress and that made me realize…I've never shopped for a mattress before. My parents have always supplied the mattress in my room and I just took it with me when I moved out. The mattress I have now I actually bought off another blogger when I moved back to DC.
I had heard of a brand called Casper; essentially a startup company that sold mattresses online. Casper has made it their business to make mattress shopping fun and personal, to the tune of $20million dollars in 10 months.
When I got invited to the Casper "Snooze Bar" pop-up I was excited that my first grown-up mattress shopping experience didn't have to be in an dingy mattress store with creepy sales people. The Snooze Bar offered lattes from Compass Coffee, a waffle bar and even cocktails if that was your early morning poison. The best part were the tents where you could take a 30 minute snooze and test out the Capser mattresses.
For around $850 for a…
