Work wear with Riders by Lee

Do you guys remember Riders jeans? Well the brand is still around, still churning out affordable denim and has now added "work wear" and "weekend wear" to their portfolio. They sent me a pair of knit trousers to try out and I must say they're pretty comfortable. Perfect for a professional airport look when I'm flying cross country for work.

A long weekend in New Orleans

I celebrated my birthday in New Orleans this year. I'd never really been there before so it was great exploring a new city. Below I've provided tips on how to spend a long weekend in NOLA. We didn't visit Bourbon Street (it's under construction and narrowed by lots of scaffolding) but we did eat some great meals, hang out at some cool places and have a really great time so enjoy!

FRIDAY: Laissez les bon temp rouler!
:: 3:00pm (The Nopsi Hotel) :: Play hooky on Friday, because it's your birthday! Book a direct flight from National Airport in DC to Louis Armstrong Airport in New Orleans; the flight is about two hours. Choose a flight that lands around the same time as hotel check-in so you can drop your bags and hit the ground running. Or in my case, hit the hotel's rooftop pool at peak sunshine time.
Choose a hotel based on the type of weekend you're looking to have. I wanted to relax and be pampered and I'm a big fan of the Salamand…

Wear Yourself to Work

WHAT I WORE: tip to toe!peplum top | necklace | blouse | pants | shoes
I'm sure you've wondered to yourself...does she really wear these outfits to work? Or does she just get all dressed up, find some amazing location and shoot these outfits just for her blog. Well the answer is... both are true.
I work full-time in a job that has nothing to do with fashion or blogging and takes up a large majority of my day and sometimes my weekends if I'm travelling on business. That means I simply don't have the time to leave my desk and take beautiful photos in real time of what I'm wearing at work. So I will shoot several outfits in the same day (usually on a weekend) and then wear them to work all throughout the week.
On some very rare occasions someone will offer to take my photo during the work day because they are practicing their photography (this has actually happened to me more than once) and these photos are the result of that; shot by my coworker and budding photograp…

Red, White and Bleu

WHAT I WORE: tip to toe!top | jeans | shoes | bag

This year a few different people have told me they were less inclined to celebrate the fourth of July. It seems the current administration is making some folks less than enthusiastic about screaming 'Merica and shooting off fireworks. I casually slipped out of town for Independence Day like any native Washingtonian who is allergic to tourists does so I sort of let the day come and go like any other. However, Friday July 14th - Bastille Day - that's a holiday I could get into.

If you've been reading this blog for any length of time you'll know I love me some French culture...and French beauty products...and French fashion...and French department stores. Listen if it's French I'm probably down for it. So I was very excited to don my tres chic red, white and bleu outfit in honor of la Fete nationale. Do you celebrate Bastille Day?

A Fresh Wave at Republic Restoratives

WHAT I WORE: tip to toe!top: Hands on Drums | bra: Agent Provocateur | jeans: Madewell | heels: Ann Taylor I recently got a chance to attend one of the monthly Bubbles and Bloggers events in DC. I'm usually travelling for work so I miss these events; you'll recall the last one I attended was way back in December of 2016 when I attended the vintage themed Bubbles and Bloggers brunch
This month's theme was green and the event was sponsored by the all natural odor eliminating brand Fresh Wave. This woman-owned company has created natural odor removing products that use simple, pure ingredients  - water and natural extracts of lime, pine needle, clove and cedarwood - to get rid of smelly situations. Think febreze that's so safe you could spray it directly on your child or pet, both of which stink from time to time.
The event was held at another woman-owned business - Republic Restoratives - a crowdfunded distillery located in Ivy City. The pairing between Fresh Wave, Re…

American Field: A Made in the USA Pop-Up

WHAT I WORE: tip to toe!dress- Madewell & Old Navy (underneath) | belt- Lapis of Luxuryboots- borrowed from photographer | clutch- gifted from the Philippians | headwrap- Ruby Sampson
Over the weekend I was invited to attend American Field, an all American Pop-Up Market focusing on brands made in the USA. I love it when my work life and my blogger life collide. During the day I work with labor unions, which are organizations grouped by profession (teachers have a labor union, firefighters have a labor union, even retail workers at Macy's and H&M have a labor union) that advocate for safer working conditions, living wages and the rights of workers on the job. So being able to connect with entrepreneurs that are creating products and jobs here in the US was a treat. There were tons of great items for sale and some especially great pieces for men (just in time for father's day). I walked away with a new fragrance from Abbott NYC that I'm obsessed with for summer, a sic…

Laduree Georgetown

WHAT I WORE: tip to toe!dress: Goodwill | lace duster: Amazon | belt: Lapis of Luxuryshoes: Forever21 | bag: Rebecca Minkoff
So I finally made it to the Georgetown location of the famous Parisian patisserie, Laduree. As you know (because I tell you every chance I get)  a few years ago I went to Paris a with a group of beauty bloggers. While we were there we didn't go to Laduree, but I did manage to bring home a souvenir anyway. Did you know the macaron brand sells make up? Yep! I have Laduree blush and not only is it creamy and well made but the packaging is so fabulous.
Ok but back to the food. Myself and a few ladies decided to check out the new Laduree and sample their breakfast menu. I've actually had brunch at Laduree in New York before so I knew we were in for a treat. The Georgetown location is a bit smaller than the one I visited in NYC but its beautifully designed and wasn't too crowed. We were able to get a table for three during a holiday weekend. (It does fill…

Uncommon Goods for Mother's Day

I know that in your hearts you all love your mom, but isn't it nice every now and then to actually tell her so? That is why card companies invented Mother's Day right? No but seriously the least we can do for our moms is take time out once a year to celebrate them. If you're like me the holiday crept up on you and now you're stuck trying to find a thoughtful and unique gift that doesn't make it look like you shopped last-minute... even if you did. If only I'd known about Uncommon Goods sooner! I've seen cool items sold on this website but I never knew what an amazing source it was for gift giving. In fact, while I was perusing the site for a gift to spoil my mom with this Mother's Day I fell down the rabbit hole of all the other gifts I could buy from the site. I'll definitely being turning to Uncommon Goods for cool gifts for wedding season because I hate shopping off a registry and they have gifts to give when they finally put a ring on it and gi…
